Rivet

Creates a rivet on an objects surface, usually for parenting.

This tool is useful for attaching objects to deforming surfaces in animation. For example, you can use this tool to attach a saddle to a running horse.

Placing rivets in the scene

  1. Click the Rivet tool on the Create tab.

  2. Move the mouse onto the scene view.

  3. Select the object to attach to and press Enter to confirm your selection.

  4. Select one or more points to attach the rivet to and press Enter to confirm your selection.

Parenting the rivet to an object

You can now parent the rivet you've just created to another object.

  1. Click the Parent tool on the Modify tab.

  2. Select one or more objects as the child/children object(s) and press Enter to verify your selection.

  3. Click the object you would like to designate as the parent, in this case, the rivet, and press Enter to accept.

    You can also make this connection between the rivet and the object(s) you want to attach to it in the network editor.
