Tearable Object

Creates a tearable cloth object from SOP Geometry or adds tearable properties to an existing cloth object.

See also: Cloth Object, Elastic Object, Dentable Object, Paint Tearable

This tool is useful for simulating objects that tear, such as a paper. By default, objects will tear if the Stiffness of the Stretch, Shear, or Bend exceeds 10% of the Tear Threshold. For more information on cloth dynamics see cloth simulation.

Note

This tool only works on polygonal geometry.

Using Tearable Object

  1. Select the object to make into a tearable object.

  2. Click the Tearable Object tool from the Cloth tab.

    Note

This tool will create a new cloth object if the selected geometry is not already simulated. Otherwise, it will modify the parameters of the existing cloth object to create the tearing effect.

You can use the Paint Tearable tool on the shelf to manually paint where the object should tear once it reaches a certain tear threshold.

For specific parameter help see the Cloth Object node help.
