Tube

Creates open or closed tubes, cones, or pyramids.

Placing a Tube in the viewer

To... Do this

Place the tube anywhere in the scene

  1. Click the Tube tool on the Create tab.

  2. Move the cursor into the scene view.

    Note

    You can hold Alt to detach the tube from the construction plane.

  3. Click to place the tube anywhere in the scene view.

    If you press Enter without clicking, Houdini places the tube at the origin.

Press Ctrl + on the Tube tool on the shelf.

Tube Handles

There are special handles available at the geometry level for the tube object that allow you to change the radius of the individual circumferences.

  1. Create a tube object.

  2. Move to the geometry level by double clicking the tube node in the network editor or by clicking the Jump to Operator button on the operation controls toolbar.

  3. Drag the handles to change the radii of the tube.

To... Do this

Change the radius of the top

Drag the red handle.

Change the radius of the bottom

Drag the green handle.

End Cap

You can cap the ends of a tube by turning on the End Cap checkbox on the operation controls toolbar. However, the caps are not automatically fused to the tube. You can fuse the points by using the Fuse tool on the Polygon tab of the shelf.
