Tools on the Create tab let you create and place primitives, curves, and null objects in the scene view.
By default, the items in this tab will create new objects in the scene view. If you want to create objects within an existing object, choose Create in Context from the Tool Options drop-down menu in the operation controls toolbar.
Shelf items
| Box | Creates a cube or six-sided rectangular box. | |

| Curve | Creates polygonal, NURBS, or Bezier curves. | |
| Font | Creates 3D text from Type 1 and TrueType fonts. | |
| Grid | Creates a plane. | |
| L-system | Creates fractal geometry from the recursive application of simple rules. | |
| Metaball | Creates metaballs and metasurfaces. | |
| Null | Creates a null object which can be used to hold a place in a scene, and never renders. | |
| Platonic Solids | Creates one of seven convex solids which have all the vertices and faces of the same type | |
| Rivet | Creates a rivet on an objects surface, usually for parenting. | |
| Sphere | Creates a sphere or ovoid surface. | |
| Sticky | Creates a sticky object based on the UV’s of a surface, usually for parenting. | |
| Torus | Creates a torus (doughnut) shaped surface. | |
| Tube | Creates open or closed tubes, cones, or pyramids. |
