Emit Particle Fluid

Emits fluid in a particle fluid simulation.

This tool can be used, for example, to simulate water pouring out of a tab, bucket, or watering can. It continuously generates particle based fluid, as opposed to the Source from Objects tool which continuously generates volume based fluid.

Using Emit Particle Fluid

To...Do this

Create a default elliptical/rectangular emitter

  1. Click the Emit Particle Fluid button on the Fluids tab.

  2. Move your cursor to the viewport and press Enter to create the emitter.

Note

The default shape is elliptical, but you can change the shape and size in the operation controls toolbar.

Create multiple emitters and have them interact

  1. Click the Emit Particle Fluid button on the Fluids tab.

  2. Move your cursor to the viewport and press Enter to create the emitter.

  3. Click the Emit Particle Fluid button on the Fluids tab again.

  4. Select the emitter you just created and press Enter to confirm your selection.

The two emitters will create particle fluid streams that dynamically interact with each other.

This example shows two particle fluid streams colliding and merging.

Emit particles from points on an object

  1. Create a geometry object.

  2. Click the Emit Particle Fluid button on the Fluids tab.

  3. In the parameter editor for the Particle Fluid Emitter, set the Emission Geometry type to Specify Emission Geometry and enter the geometry path in the Source SOP field on the Source tab.

This example shows points on a cube emitting particle fluid.

A possible next step could be to drain particle fluid. To remove particle fluid from a simulation, use the Sink Particle Fluid tool or the Sink from Objects tool on the Fluids shelf.

For specific parameter help see the Particle Fluid Emitter node help.
