Fur Style shader

This CVEX shader styles curves generated by the Fur SOP and Mantra Fur Procedural to look like natural fur.

Parameters

Thickness

Root Thickness

Specifies the width of each hair at its root.

Tip Thickness

Specifies the width of each hair at its tip.

Blend Point

Specifies the point on the hair where the width transitions from the root thickness to the tip thickness.

Blend Width

Specifies the distance over which the hair’s width smoothly transitions from the root thickness to the tip thickness.

Shape

Length Scale

Scales the length of all hairs. This parameter does not replace the length value; it is a multiplier.

For example, if you set the value to 1.5 all hairs will be scaled to 50% longer.

Length Map

Specifies a texture map used to modulate the length of hairs.

Length Map Blend

Specifies how much the Length Map can modulate the length of each hair.

Randomize Length

Specifies the amount each hair’s length should be randomly scaled.

Cut Map

Specifies a texture map used to cut the length of each hair. This is similar to the Length Map but will adjust the frizz to match cut hair.

Cut Map Blend

Specifies how much the Cut Map can affect each hair.

Displacement Map

Specifies a texture map used to displace the position of each hair.

Displace Direction

Specifies how to interpret values from the Displacement Map.

Displacement Scale

Scales the amount each hair is displaced by the Displacement Map.

Clump

The amount each hair is pulled towards its associated clump.

Clump Map

Specifies a texture map used to clump hairs.

Clump Map Blend

Specifies how much the Clump Map can affect each hair.

Frizz

Amplitude

Scales the amount of frizz applied to each hair.

Amplitude Map

Specifies a texture map used to modulate the frizz amplitude.

Amplitede Map Blend

Specifies how much the Amplitude Map can modulate the frizz.

Root Blend Point

Specifies the point on the hair where the frizz starts.

Root Blend Width

Specifies the distance over which the hair’s frizz smoothly blends in.

Tip Blend Point

Specifies the point on the hair where the frizz end.

Tip Blend Width

Specifies the distance over which the hair’s frizz smoothly blends out.

Frequency

Specifies the frequency of the frizz noise.

Roughness

Specifies the roughness of the frizz noise.

Octaves

Specifies the octaves of the frizz noise.

Guard Hairs

Width Scale

Multiplier applied to the width of all guard hairs.

Length Scale

Multiplier applied to the length of all guard hairs.
