ObjectShapes

Modeling / Digital Asset (OBJ)

by edward profile

A set of pre-made objects that have common geometry.

It includes the following objects: - SpherePrimitive - SpherePoly - SphereNURBS - CircleNURBS - CirclePoly - CirclePrimitive - PlaneNURBS - PlanePoly - PlanePrimitive - CubeNURBS - CubePoly - CylinderNURBS - CylinderPoly - CylinderPrimitive - ConeNURBS - ConePoly - TorusNURBS - TorusPoly

ClipPartition

Modeling / Scene File

by edward profile

An example scene file that demonstrates how to split a geometry into different groups depending on whether it's above or below a plane. Multiple groups of connected points below or above the plane are created accordingly.

More complicated variations could be made by replacing the Clip SOPs with the Cookie SOP instead.

Demonstrates: AttribCreate SOP, Clip SOP, Connectivity SOP, GroupTransfer SOP, Partition SOP

Blue Screen Matte COP (VEX)

Compositing / Scene File

by edward profile

A blue screen matting VEX COP done in VOPs that implement some of the equations from Jim Blinn and Alvy Ray Smith's paper, "Blue Screen Matting" (ftp://ftp.alvyray.com/Acrobat/BluSig96.pdf)

Buckyball

Modeling / Digital Asset (SOP)

by edward profile

The Buckyball SOP generates geometry that has the geometry structure of a soccer ball.

The term Buckyball is often slang for the Buckminsterfullerene carbon (C_60) molecule named after the architect (Richard) Buckminister "Bucky" Fuller who was most famous for his geodesic domes.

SuperPinTable

Effects / Scene File

by edward profile

A re-creation of the pin table effect found in the movie, X-Men. It goes beyond a traditional pin table by allowing multiple segments per pin so that it can handle much more complicated geometry (allows holes).

Acknowledgements:

- Mark Elendt for the original simple VEX solution .

- Frank Firsching for the voxelization idea introduced in the LegoStones entry here.

- Jeff Lait for ideas on optimizing the whole setup.

Massive/PRMan Rendering

Rendering / Digital Asset (ROP)

by edward profile

This is a simple asset that aids in bringing Massive sims into Houdini for rendering with PRMan. The viewport visualization section uses the clip files that can be generated from the amc2clip python script that can be found here on the SideFX Exchange.
