Fracture SOPModeling / Digital Asset (SOP) by
Average rating:

This fractures (shatters) an object into smaller pieces, in preparation for use in DOPs as an RBD Fractured Object or an RBD Glue Object.
There is an extensive help card, and the example hip file has comments as well.

A very useful tool. Thanks Craig :-)
Just wondering if there's a way to preserve UVs/ normals from the original asset? Alternatively I'm looking for a way to differentiate between the faces of the original asset and the newly generated faces, with the ultimate goal of exporting to .obj?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I wonder if you let it go on for long enough? I recall that it does a binary split, with each sub piece being resplit until they get "too" small (< 200 polys). So maybe you just need more steps? Or maybe there is something about the geometry you are trying to split? It's hard to say without seeing it.

Cool stuff, but am I doing something wrong? I seem to get one large chunk (about half of the original chunk I am fracturing) and then a bunch of smaller split parts on the other half. Is there a way to get it fracture evenly over the whole object?

Very useful. Thanks Craig

The (arbitrary) bound is 200 polys. Things with < 200 polys will not be cut.

The geometry has to be dense enough to work. But haven't figured it out what is the lowest limit of divisions...
Thanks a lot for great asset!
