Simple window tool with wall cutter,
critics are welcome.
It's under construction, not a real hda/otl.
I know, needs more controls… and UVs…

Agreed. Works well.

I would see about adding interior casing trim details to the window. If you look at most residential windows, they will have interior trim casing surrounding the opening. Adding this feature will improve the asset even more.

You can easily find the interior wall using a Ray SOP and your cutter geometry can have a 2x2 grid as a plane moved inside the exterior wall just a bit so that it always finds an interior wall. Fire that grid with the Ray SOP so that it hits the interior face. Then build up your window trim from that.

Many thanks for the comments :-)
@jeff: I'll try your idea.
You mean a HDA with the wall as input, right?

Yes HDA with wall as input works well.

Another idea you might want to consider:
If you want to punch many windows in a wall, you may want to have two inputs: anchor points and wall to punch in to.

Then the question is where to orient the origin anchor point to your window. There are four options: bottom centre, centroid of window. bottom left (for left corner) or bottom right (for right corner). Invariably I always go with bottom centre then add an attribute for width and height on the anchor points so I know how the window will work in the wall.

Had some time left for small update, HDA has now optional interior deco.
Most Parameters can be controlled via attributes, too.
Next on the list is:
Exterior deco and rework on the sills.
Optional own geo for interior and exterior deco.
Then UVs as last step :-)

Hope you like it.
