Download houdini 9.1 (for Ubuntu 7.10). Install it. Run. Press ‘install a non-commercial license’. Get error:

'Error installing key: LICENSE Generic Houdini-Master-NonCommercial ….
Unable to read/modify license file. …'

In License Administrator see:

*The license server is running.
*The license server may not serve licenses.
*The license server does not allow license modifications from this machine.

Also note that after installation I did not find sesinetd in the /etc/init.d and ran it from /home/ilya/hfs9.1.124/houdini/sbin

Suggestions?

Well.. and Where is this license file?

And diagnostic information:

Hi,

You're not allowed to use 127.0.0.1 for your IP address. You can edit the /etc/hosts file to the IP address that's assigned by your router or ISP. You can search through the forum for more posts related to the /etc/hosts file or 127.0.0.1.

Good luck!

Cheers!

Thanx for reply.
But in fact the problem was that I installed Houdini under non-root account.
After I reinstalled it correctly all works fine (after disabling compiz ).

root is like Administrator on Windows, this is a special user account that has more power!
