Terry created this image beginning with the lego file that he submitted to the Houdini Exchange and then created additional pieces using the pre-existing pieces as a guide. The image was rendered using PBR in Houdini 9.5 using out of the box materials (primarily the "reflective" and "glass" materials).

Change the red in the center. Its the only thing that looks fake

i would not know this was cgi. also, agreed, the red does look a bit out of place.

It is not out of place and doesn't look fake. You just need to know what it IS. 
 
It is the back-side of a Lego Space helmet, they're often red and look a lot like the Lego bike helmets. So essentially what you see is the top of the lego figure controlling the spacecraft.

i'm going to concur with the first two guys on this. but other than that this is amazing.
