Houdini was used for simulation of the jam using particle fluids, little pieces of fruit geometry and seeds are copied and randomly scaled onto a percentage of the resulted particles. The final jam mesh is generated by copying metaballs onto the particles. The movement of the jam man was motion capture, Motionbuilder and Maya were used to get a a moving jam man geometry object into Houdini. The mesh was then further manipulated to add jiggle with chops and some custom geometry deformations using vops. The scene was shaded, lit and rendered entirely using mantra with micropolygon rendering. The toast is geometry with a camera projected hi-res texture. The scene is lit with an HDRI of the kitchen environment and a spotlight for stronger shadows. Some of the background and foreground elements such as the cups or fruit are cards with hi-res pictures and masks placed in relative depth from the camera to create parallax.
