NEW SIXTEEN WEEK VISUAL EFFECTS COURSE Vancouver Film School [VFS] has teamed up with Side Effects Software, D2 Software, the software division of Digital Domain, Inc., and HP to offer a one-of a-kind visual effects training. With a focus on Houdini and Nuke, two of the world’s most advanced platforms for creating visual effects, VFS is adding a Houdini and Nuke Certification program to their curriculum. This intense four month course uses hands-on experience to prepare students for the fast-paced creative challenges of the entertainment industry. The combination of industry partnership and results-focused teaching guarantees VFS students will develop demo reels that meet the high standards set by top Hollywood effects studios. Rachelle Lewis, Recruitment Manager for Digital Domain knows that “the need for qualified Houdini artists throughout the industry, and particularly in our company, is at an all time high. Since we need so many artists and have consistently found a significant challenge in locating them, we decided to take matters into our own hands and find a way to train them quickly and effectively … and that’s where VFS came into the picture”. TAUGHT BY INDUSTRY EXPERTS “As Industry requirements shift; Houdini and Nuke artists are in extremely high demand, and often in-house training is not feasible” says Marty Hasselbach, Managing Director of VFS. “VFS is in the position to provide a solid educational background that prepares students for the rigors of using procedural-based software in production. We have the facilities, support, infrastructure and high-level industry connections to help our students develop the right skills.” VFS is pleased to announce that Raymond Corbett, one of the most experienced trainers in the business will be teaching this ground breaking course. Corbett worked previously as the Training Supervisor and courseware developer for Digital Domain, and prior to that, as the Manager of Training and Educational Services at Side Effects Software, in Toronto. Ray is extremely well respected as an artist and educator and truly understands the needs of large studios and their production pipelines. His expertise will ensure that graduates of this program hit the ground running.“We are looking forward to getting access to the students who come out of this program” says Lewis, “The need in the market for visual effects artists trained in Houdini is unprecedented, and our expectations for them will be high. From my experience, VFS is by far the best option to help meet our requirements”. |
