Download Video - 54MB [20 Min.]Download Torrent The H9 Public Beta has just been released with a more accessible UI that gives a wide range of CG artists access to Houdini's node-based workflow. In this blog entry, we take you on a video tour of the new UI in which we complete a simple rigid body dynamics simulation then apply materials and render. To help you get used to the new hotkey designations, there is a Quick Reference Card available in PDF format in the upper right sidebar. This video is geared more towards artists new to Houdini. Houdini 8 users who want to transfer to the new version should keep an eye on the Old School blog for transition videos created by Jeff Wagner. If you don't already have the beta software then you can go to the download link shown in the upper right sidebar. Everyone will be able to run the public beta for free in our non-commercial Apprentice mode with a few restrictions as stated on the download page. If you have a Houdini 9 license then you can test the commercial version. Houdini 8 users who have a maintenance and support plan can talk to their sales reps about getting an upgraded license. Throughout the public beta and beyond, the H9 blog will be used to create a place for regular updates of tutorials and explorations into what Houdini can do for artists. The blog format will make it easy for you to add quick comments concerned the lesson or submit a bug using the form shown in the upper right. We are looking forward to your feedback and hope that you can help us squash bugs. Your comments on the workflows shown in this video and your observations as you work on your own will provide us with invaluable information. As you test the software please report as much as possible because unreported problems can sometimes slip through the cracks. Thanks in advance to everyone who is participating in this public beta.
