I ran into this issue lately with the few latest nvidia beta drivers. When running H13, the whole X session would go down, right at the startup of H.

There already exists a bug for this.

You could check what driver you are using, and try to downgrade. The last beta driver I found working with H13 was 337.12

Everything after that mark would bring your X server down in an ugly fashion.

It's neither Houdini's bug nor CentOS. It's your card driver issue. I'm using same OS and same version of Houdini without any problem.

It might be driver issue, right now I can only use it with Nvidia 331 driver. What card are you using?

Just a follow-up on this issue…

The newly (today) released stable nvidia-driver series 340.x looks safe so far.
Tested against 13.0.477 and X stays up, everything seems fine.
