Someone told me that Houdini 8 has got cloth in it. I am just wondering if anyone has used it! I want to know which one is more stable and efficent, syflex for Houdini or houdini 8's cloth?

because I am thinking of buying syflex for Houdini. But if Houdini 8's cloth works well , I will not buy syflex. I am a student so I can afford to buy a student copy of syflex!

thank you for your attentnion

I think Syflex is farther along - they've been doing it longer. It's not perfect, it's also more of a “black box” than Houdini's, but you can get some very nice cloth results very quickly.

In the end, I'm hoping Houdini's solution will be at that level and I'd much prefer that approach, since I can get at stuff much easier, and of course being able to integrate it with other DOPs, but for now…

It's worth noting that the current release of Syflex isn't compiled against v8 and will only work in v7. AFAIK they haven't recompiled it yet for 8 - they often wait until general release for obvious reasons.

Cheers,

Syflex for Houdini is pretty mutch “evaluation” version.
No collision primitives, no mimic constraint ( cloth goals ), no syFlesh, no sySkin ( multilayered springs ), etc.

By other hand H Cloth has great potential. And is part of the application.
A very good idea is to spend some time to learn DOP's.

I didn't checked, will be DOP's only for Houdini Master or not ?
