Similar to Nuke's Dot node. It would be useful in a lot of situations, when you want to lay out your network in a more readable fashion:

HI,
I have already submitted that as an RFE a few months back.

Hi Rob,

I thought this would be a popular one. Here's to hoping to have it in H13

I agree with the request but I'd say that a null node should be laid down instead of that dot node?, that's probably the main use for null nodes afterall?

I agree with Jean Claude on this one… I do this a lot in Houdini by just adding a null node.

Although it would be more aesthetically pleasing to have just a dot instead. Maybe we don't need a new node, but just a way to collapse into dots the nodes we don't need to see the name or icon..

a null at object level introduces a transform that Houdini has to think about - in rigs thisl slows things down…
a dot node would be just a visual aid in the network

this has been an RFE since Nuke was first released.

What if instead the network lines had a “handle” (by the fault hidden and inactive) that could be created on the line by using a modifier key (I.e. CTRL-click on the line)? Seems a bit faster to do than laying down a node (less keypresses).

Dot node would be fine and more elegant than the null solution .. just like in fusion for example .. everything which improves readability and structure should be supported!

This is exactly why the dot is wanted !
