Just now I'm starting to test H12 performance.
I made a very simple Sops structure(copy box on a deformed animatied grid by using copy sop).
H12 performance is much slower(2-3 times ) than H11.
Does anyone have any suggestions why this is the case?
I use H12.1 windows7 64bit.
thnaks.
H12 is 2-3 times slower than H11.

if you are talking about the viewport performance, i have the same problem on my laptop.
go to Edit->preferences->3d Viewport
there is a new dropdown box labeled ‘Scene Renderer’
you can chose H11 from that and the performance will be the same as before. (there are also a couple of other options which u might try)

Thank you for your advice.
I changed 3d Viewport setting you mentioned ,but the performance is about the same.
And I also checked bgeo export speed H12 and H11.
H12 is 2-3 times slower than H11 as well.
Does anyone face same problem of H12 speed performance?
I use H12.1(latest version) windows7 64bit.
Thanks.

sugiA sample .hip file would be really helpful in understanding what you're seeing. When I tried to reproduce (see attached), I didn't see much of a difference in performance between the two. Certainly not 2-3 times slower.

thank you for your file, mark!
I exported bgeo sequence file (1-48f) from your file on H12 and H11.
H12 22sec.
H11 10sec.
Which OS do you use?
My machine spec is
windows7 64bit
Xeon 3.2GH RAM24GB
Quadro FX 3800
I'm on Linux – however, I was using the performance monitor to test copy SOP performance. The .bgeo format changed in H12, and writing JSON files is a little slower than the old format (but more flexible). So, this may be contributing to your experience.

i started playing with instancing after watching the halloween video.

It seems that on my laptop (which is admittedly very different from your machine), using “fast point instancing” is a LOT faster than using a copy sop in H12.1…
it's a little different way of working, but it might be worth investigating if you are having speed issues with copy-soping geometry.
I really can't even use the GL3.2 viewport with a copy-sop it just kind of grinds to a halt with anything complex, but instancing just zips along real zippy like!
