i`m trying to make a panelled shell type thing (like a car body) in nurbs, ive split up a modified nurb sphere into the seperate sections i need (like doors, wings, bonnet etc)
what i need to do is give them thickness, and shrink the outer boundaries a little so that they leave gaps (like panels on a car).
eg - nurb sphere > carve into seperate nurb surfaces (branching carve nodes) > shrink boundaries > give each surface a thickness
been stuck on this all day, hope that makes sense..

so i *think* i understand what you're wanting to do.. but the explanation is a little vague so if this isn't what you were looking for, then just let us know and try to give a better description of what you're trying to do.
