I just found the ramp in Vex builder is not as good as the ramp in Cop. Because the ramp in Vex builder has got no colour, no circular ramp……..
How do the professional Houdini artist solve this ramp problem?

I'm assuming you're talking about the shading context – and probably Renderman, right?
RSL doesn't have a ramp function either. Instead, you'd use the spline() function (see the PRMan docs for details). VEX has the same function, and it is also called spline(). This function is available in VOPs as the “Spline” VOP. It's first input is a lookup value (“index”, or “parametric coordinate”), and all subsecuent inputs are the colors of your ramp (the “knots” of the spline).
