illuminate question

I am a learner in Houdini. I am now trying to some simple rman light shader in Houdini. but whenever I put a “illuminate construct” node in vex builder. The light shader become completly dark no mater what intensity or colour I put in. I tryed to connect global “P” to “illuminate's P”, and connect a float to “angle”. But the light shader is not working. so, at the moment the only light shader that I can build is only ambient light.

Does anyone have any hint of how I can apply the “illuminate” node in Houdini? i think the other variable such as “L” would not be read without the illuminate().

pls help!
