well done introduction! you could have mentioned a few (more) points on what sets renderman apart from mantra, though.

It was just about getting you started, I guess the reasons why you use it are up to your preference and/or pipeline environment.

There are some nice improvements for RM21 for Maya. I still have love for Mental Ray
