Hi there,

Was I dreaming that at one stage there used to be a way to “Add Take” from the application menubar - beside the Take: menu and Auto Take button? If not, how 'bout it?

I'm not aware of there ever being any button other than the one in the Take List pane itself.

Remember that you can bind a global hotkey to run takeadd.

Oh. It looked like this didn't it?

…. just kidding! :-)

PS. I checked through these versions of Houdini and couldn't see the button:
72_144, 70_235, 61_060, 72_199, 80_305, 80_212, 72_157, 80_394

– Doh!?!

I think the mass hypnotic memory happening here was, as I recall, at some time having the pulldown list of all the takes up there, and there was an Add Take menu entry. I'm pretty sure I remember that at some point.

I assume the lack of this is For Our Own Protection?

Cheers,

Sorry. I don't think there was ever an Add Take menu entry either, even in the days of the pulldown list. I once wanted to add such an entry, but after I scoped the work involved (it involved serious changes to our dynamic menu capability), I decided I could live with a hotkey.

This is not to say that I won't be the first in line to protect users from themselves.

Glad I wasn't the only delusional one on the forum, heh heh.

Any chance of binding anything other than the F-keys to hotkeys? Ours are full

They're full? All 48 (including alt, ctrl, shift modifiers)?

I'm not dodging the question. I just don't know what it would take to add more global hotkeys.

Well, no-one can remember much more than the 12 unshifted keys without a full printout at their desks

I'd love scripts to be able to be bound to hotkeys somehow. I'm not sure what mechanism you'd have to support to do that but it would be great. For scripts to be considered objects would be great but I'm sure that's a massive consideration.
