Hi all

I just opened up Houdini for the first time on Windows 10 and have been looking at beginner tutorials, but I'm running into an strange issue

When I place a box object into the scene it takes a really long time to process, like more than a minute. I place the object, it seems to freeze (the mouse turns into a spinning wheel) and then after about 60 seconds it will ‘unfreeze’ and place the box into the scene.

It doesn't seem right at all… any ideas?

Your computer may be under powered for Houdini. Can you post the specs of your hardware? Or review the hardware requirements link on this site.

There was an issue like this with certain versions of nVidia drivers. If you have an nVidia card you may want to try a different driver version. I've been running Win10 on version 375.70 for ages now, and it has never led me astray (though Windows update keeps “upgrading” it for me so I have to keep re-installing it). I think others managed to eliminate this issue by installing newer 378.xx version drivers.
