Hey,

Noob ex-maya user question: Can you actually import geometry into houdini? I mean, actually import it so it is part of the scene. When you do a file node, you are looking to a location on a hard drive and loading it in. Can you actually import Geometry so it part of the scene and not looking to a file?

Thanks.
Thanks,

Evan

You can lock nodes by control-clicking their red flag.

Thanks!! I looked this up and it said that locked geo saves with the hip file.

Thanks again : )

there isn't much to be gained by having the geometry embedded in the hip file - other than lots of large hip files.
if the geometry is on disc others can access it, if your hip becomes corrupted you've still got your geometry etc
