Hi there,

Very new to Houdini Indie and have been wanting to create the billowy smoke seen in the attached image and render in octane (with a modeled bottle).

Can someone who knows Houdini give me an idea on where to start with one of the tools from the shelf set?

How would I control colour and thickness of the smoke? Would I have to convert it somehow for Octane?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Anyone from SideFX????

Just looking for some direction on what would be a good starting point.

Would like to keep trying to learn but it definitely has a steep learning curve.

Thanks

As a starting point, have you taken a look at the Billowy Smoke tool on the PyroFX shelf?

Try it, then post your hip file here if you get stuck.

Thanks Cristin.

Yes I have. I just wasn't getting the strand like effect. Was thinking someone had a more direct approach based on experience.

I don't mind taking some time to learn it but there are so many tools I just don't know each specific nuance/variable.

Pretty limited time and don't have a year to figure it out on my own….hence, looking for a little help.

I understand. Thanks for this. Will take a look. Also found a video that shows the influence of a sphere through the smoke simulation. Thinking this might help with the tendrils/thick wisps that are curling around.
