Which version of Houdini will support OpenVDB 4.0?

The webpage of OpenVDB (here [www.openvdb.org]) says that the current version of Houdini ships with only OpenVDB 3.3.0, but OpenVDB 4.0 introduced some new features which is incompatible with the OpenVDB 3.3.0 used in Houdini. That means the current version of Houdini cannot take advantage of the latest OpenVDB 4.0 and its new features. So I was wondering if SideFX plans to integrate OpenVDB 4.0 into Houdini and, if so, in what version Houdini will ship with OpenVDB 4.0. Thanks.

Bit lover on same page states:

Note: Houdini 16.0 ships with OpenVDB 3.3.0, which is a custom version of OpenVDB 4 that is ABI-compatible with OpenVDB 3. To use OpenVDB 4 with Houdini 16.0, be sure to enable the abi=3 option when building both the core library and the Houdini toolkit.

I read this bit of lover, but my understanding is that, if you set abi=3, you will lose (incompatible) advantages introduced in OpenVDB 4. So, even if we set abi=3 and then use OpenVDB 4 in Houdini 16.0, we are actually avoiding the new features of OpenVDB 4 for the sake of compatibility. That's why I hope future version of Houdini can be built on OpenVDB 4 directly to make full use of it and post this thread to ask possible plans.
