Hello, I know how to matt objects and render each object separately from Mantra but is there a way to render them all at the same time using id passes? Thank you very much!! I just want to save time, other ways will be much appreciated too!

Is it quite a difficult thing to do in Houdini? I just want to render out by material and object id pass…

So I made a simple test scene using L-systems and Copy Onto Points and that..
I know how I can set matts for each object but is there anyway to render them all at once with the id data in them?
I searched a lot on the internet but there wasn't a clear enough answer…

It seems like the problem was that I am using After Effects. So does anyone know any good plugins that I can use, to use ID passes from Houdini to After Effects?
Thanks!

After a few tries, I kind of know where I'm going now. After I set “Prim_Id” and “Op_Id” in extra image planes in Mantra, now After Effects reads it normally with the EXtractoR. Yeay

Seemed like it didn't really work well in the end so I just rendered them separately using Mattes…
But oh well at least I could color correct them separately with the Z depth as well…

For those who are still wondering, I found out a way that is probably common sense for most people but still is very useful for people that are still figuring it out.
The way of doing it is possible with Houdini using the constant shader.Thanks.

Thanks almina. Using the Constant shader is a good idea. Too bad after effects can’t read object ids properly.
