Workflow steps to create a basic particle.fga file in Houdini Apprentice for export into UE4?

I would like help figuring out how to complete a basic workflow from Houdini to UE4, for vector map based particles.

The closest thing I can find on this topic is how to export an FBX to UE4, or exporting sprite-based particles.

I've downloaded the exporter tool that is mentioned there, but I can't get it work and as a beginner in Houdini, I don't understand all the acronyms in the various error dialogs.

Can anyone create a basic tutorial where a user versed in UE4 can follow in Houdini Apprentice to get the basic workflow nailed down?
