Confusing Licensing Problem

When I open up my apprentice version the licensing process just loops. I click that I want a free Apprentice version and the popup says that the license was successfully installed. When I try to run the application, however, I just get the same licensing question. So I tried to use the cellular from my phone to get the license and then it works just fine. So then I tried a little experiment. First I got the working license with the cellular and looked at the license administrator. There it stood that I had a license. Then I switched over to wi-fi and opened the administrator again and it said that I didn't have a license. What is going on?! (note: The apprentice version has worked just fine for me for about 2 months now and I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall the application.)

Sorry if this was a bit rambly written.

The licensing mechanism relies on a few pieces of network information, like the hostname, IP address, and MAC address. So it's possible that a license that you get while on cellular data doesn't work when you're not connected to cellular data. I'm curious to why the licensing suddenly stopped working though. Have you changed your hostname recently?

A few other things to check:
You should be using local licensing mode. If not, there's information on how to switch here:

Also, check that the license file is writable by your user account.

While connected to WiFi, regenerate the Apprentice licenses. You could do this by clearing out the content of the license file (licenses or licenses.local). Then run Houdini again to get the prompt for installing a free license.

If none of those worked, try contacting support. There are instructions here:

It worked!! All I had to do was to clear out the contents of the licenses.local file and now it works perfectly! Thanks for the help!
