Hm… There don't seem to be any existing tutorials on this, so I'll have to create a dedicated thread to discuss this issue in detail. Don't want to derail this one.

Hello,

sorry for bringing this thread up, but i was wondering if the recently released rigging training was the one that was mentioned in this thread:

All the best!

I love the tutorial in
https://www.sidefx.com/learn/collections/cat-quad-rigging/ [www.sidefx.com]
Would love to see a facial rig based on bones instead of blendshapes in the future. Its great to have alternatives and flexibility,

Great instructor loved the choice of side-effects.

I hope that Houdini team take a good look at http://www.animationstudios.com.au/advanced-skeleton [www.animationstudios.com.au] for Maya, it had a major update recently and it's the best Autorig I could find.
If side effect could reproduce something similar would be a game changer.
In relation to the above course, that´s a great initiative from side effects. It nailed many aspects that are important. I hope there's more to come.
Also would love to see some in animation, and more specific ways to automate movement like for example, using procedural simulation on the rig to form natural movements like in the example below

Keep up the good work. Video tutorials are my favorite tool for learning.

Bjørn's Cat rigging series is not the one that I'm doing right now.

very happy to hear this! Although that series is a very good introduction to new and old rigging ways I am thrilled to see what sesi staff can pull out!

Thanks for the hard work arctor!

What the guy is doing on Maya is something very basic to setup. He's just applying a sine function to an attribute that controls the spine twisting of the creature. You can easily do that just adding a parameter for the rotations you want to change and apply some out-of-the-box MotionFX right-clicking on that channel

Yep, I am looking forward to see that one! Do you have a rough idea when it will be nice and ready?

Thanks

I'm doing (almost) nothing else
It's about 2/3 done and the first parts will need a little editing cleanup so you should start seeing them before Christmas.

Simulation, Motion Graphic and finally Rigging character.
Thank you for hard work

Hi guys - in case you haven't seen, here are several rigging+constraints tutorials from our friends over at Red Ring Entertainment, an animation+VFX studio in Bulgaria. Kalin Stoyanov kindly captured these videos for you guys, to share information and his techniques.

Hi I finished the new rigging lesson from Mr Goldfarb.
What can I say…wonderful…
Since I started on Houdini (15 indie)I thought that make rigging here(Houdini)is good because the logic in Houdini is very clear… but now I have a big smile on my face.
I used to make rigging in another two package and no one of then have a clear, beautiful an organize node editor like our Network Editor.
If you count that is possible to make custom nodes and use images to make things clear it open a hole new world.
About animation I start to use default female_rig Bea to make some exercises in my opinion it is easy to use more than I expected.
The real time reaction on Houdini interface is a little bit slow than other package but the flip-book is very good.
Now I am very curios to see how Houdini's Capture can help us when we bind geometry to the rigging.
The only things I missing is Greace Pencil like Blender and motion trail like Maya(a curve for see animation control path and edit it) and a little help on ghost in Houdini we need some features to make it more useble.
Sorry to write to much but rigging and animation walk together.
To make this post short Thank you SideFX for the good initiative to make this rigging series.
Thank you Mr Goldfarb for help us

I have just gone over it briefly to see what it is about and i gotta say:

Awesome lesson!!!

I hope some people agree with me that lectures for plain explanations are way better than livestreams. Livestreams should still be around, but you clearly so that the content was reviewed and whatnot. Non live without interruptions etc. should be the way to go for plain lectures, SideFX!

Really professional series it seems.

Thanks so much for doing this for us FOR FREE!! Time to start learning about rigging!

My apologies I finally found “Maya motion trail” in Houdini is the new “MOTION PATH” when I read the help I saw it and tried…wonderful
Let's go ahead….
