I must simulate a character in a car crash. What should be the approach? Agent and rag doll? is one only character.

I'd go with rag doll as a first pass - then you can refine the animation by hand after.

For the ragdoll way, should I make and agent firts or there is other way without making an agent?

take your character rig and make an agent from that.
