Dropped objects keep falling apart upon impact.

I have an assembly of parts that I want to drop on a ground plane. They fall and bounce nicely, except that I need the assembly to stay in tack. Instead all the parts just fall apart. How do I keep them together?

Thanks!

the lazy way is to put down a pack sop. if you're using a bullet packed sim, they'll be treated as a single object.

the complex way is to create constraint networks to bind all the shapes together, but sounds like you don't need that.

Thanks mestela, especially for the demo file. I tried this, but unfortunately it makes everything into one material. In my file, I'm dropping a paint gun to the ground, but it is an assembly that has many parts, and many materials. It just won't do to have everything one color.

I wish the bullet solver could just treat the parts as a single part.

Any help would be appreciated.

Assign materials before the pack, then unpack after the dopnet, the original materials and stuff should be restored.

Thanks! I tried this on a demo scene and it looked like it did what I needed. I'll give it a shot on the real file when I get back to work on Monday.
