Hi, My apologies if this has been posted before but a forum search for “Upgrade License Server” yielded no results that answered this question.

I am trying to get HoudiniFX apprentice (12.5.376) up and running on my Mac running OSX 10.8. When I attempt to launch the application I get the following error:

WARNING: An old version of the license server (4.x or older) is running on this machine. To be able to install and return licenses successfully, please upgrade the license server to version 12.5.376 now.

I am a longtime PC user and fairly new to using Mac, but I cannot figure out how to upgrade the license server. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just download and install the latest Houdini daily build and leave everything at default and a new lic server should get installed

Unfortunately I am still getting the same error. However, if I tic

Install (or reinstall) my free Houdini Apprentice license
Automatically install a non-commercial license (internet connection required)

And click “Next>” I get:

Error: Invalid machine name:

If possible, please fix any problems and try again.
If that doesn't work, you can manually get licenses from
http://license.sidefx.com/get_nc_license.php [license.sidefx.com]

I did try manually obtaining and installing licenses from the URL, but that still does not work.

Sounds like you need to delete your license and just get a new one.
