Hello,

Houdini crashes for me consistently on certain situations in a ‘houdini is not responding’ kind of manner. It does not produce any sort of error log.

a) whenever i use the Curve tool with Grid Snapping (even if its the only thing i do after starting houdini)
b) whenever i create primitives it crashes within a couple of minutes
c) whenever i create primitives with any sort of increased subdivisions it crashes within seconds to a minute.

I have attempted to replicate it in all of these builds with 100% success rate :

16.5.473
16.5.473 (qt4)
16.0.736
-
15.5.717
15.0.459
-
14.0.1006

On the newer builds it occurs a couple of seconds faster than the older ones.

Iam “running” Houdini on :

Win 10 64bit (1083, latest update)
i7 4790k
Firepro V4900 (1gb) (latest drivers, 15.201.2401.1010-feb14-2017)
16gb RAM

I have been having this problem consistently ever since i installed it, 2 days ago. Is there anything i can do to make it work? so far it is literally impossible to do anything productive, other than explore the menus.

Thank you for your time

It may be your hardware. From what you have posted your machine does not meet the minimum requirements to run Houdini.
Using Houdini Indie 20.0
Ubuntu 64GB Ryzen 16 core.
nVidia 3050RTX 8BG RAM.
