Selecting Primitives

I want to extrude a circle several times.The first segment is okay. But when I want to extrude the same circle face, Face#1, I select it then press the “Q” key to get another PolyExtrude. But Face#2,as shown, ends up being the selected face and is extruded. How do I get Face#1 extruded the second time? The attached doesn't show Face#1 selected (blue) but it is.
