Hi,

regarding the rc_align and rc_create tools that are shown here https://vimeo.com/263407212, [vimeo.com] are they released yet? I have the latest gamedev toolset installed (developer branch 1.11) but it is not in there (as I thought they would be).

regards,
Jasper

I cant find them either. In the comments he mentions it being released in developer 1.10. I've tried both 1.10 versions and the latest with no joy. Would love to test this in our pipeline!

Ok. It's a separate plugin for Houdini all the sudden…

So… trying the Windows one. You need to buy a license just to try it out? Or have I missed something?

@pbowmar - the licensing topic is a … hot one with CapturingReality. In theory a new licensing model is imminent, but has been for quite some time now. For the moment you not only need a license but, due to restrictions of the SDK, also have to jump through loops and whoops to make things work.

If Luiz isn't going to show a typical workflow in demo video soon, I can cook up a walk-through if anyone's interested. That's not because I am overly familiar with the plugin - but I have to use RC frequently …

Hi Marc,

Yeah it's pretty painful right now, I can't even evaluate it to determine if we would want to buy it! Catch-22, and basically means we won't be looking at it seriously until that gets resolved.

Hopefully that'll change soon so we can start evaluating it on Linux without needing to actually buy anything

Cheers,

Hi, Peter,

I have *serious* doubts about any Linux version of RC being available … ever.

Marc

P.S. Building a “simple guy's” photogrammetry system inside Houdini is doable - but you wouldn't get the extreme performance of RC, which is the whole point of the pricetag. I'd see the catch22 there: RC gives you (debatably) Agisoft's quality at 50x the speed. If 50x performance is worth the money … go for it. If not … absolutely no need to even try

They do have a demo version with watermark…or even 3 month option for $99.

Even for myself, it seems reasonable to at least do it on a per project basis.

I would hack around with the watermark to get some workflow…then the 3 month for the actual project.

Oh I'm fine with the watermark but does that work with the Houdini plugin? It's the Houdini plugin I want to test (on Linux) not RC itself in its own GUI.
