create a uv map / ramp along the theta value of a Mandelbulb?

I'm trying to create UV Map on the MandelBulb set that could be ramped and animated depending on the r, theta, phi values of the MandelBulb. I have the feeling that for the same reason i'm failing to get any velocity data out of that MandelBulb pseudo code… i'm failing at managing to put sticky UVs onto that monster.
