Fake SSS with gather function

Hi everyone,

I am trying to use the gather function in my shading network to send rays in the oposite direction of the surface normal. By that I am trying to create a very cheap translucency or SSS effect. Works pretty well.
My problem is that as soon as multiple objects are intersecting, I am getting very high values in the intersecting areas. Does anybody know a way to get around this? Loop over every alembic primitive separately maybe or just “gathering” information only from the object that have the specific material assigned?
