Is there a way to create one variable (e.g. $MYPATH) with different values on different computers?

just edit your houdini.env and add like like:
MYPATH = "C:\mypath\"
then the $MYPATH variable in houdini will have such value
and since each computer can have different path defined in it's houdini.env file it can evaluate to a different path
