Using the uV layout tool to pack shapes around some other shapes that have been manually placed in specific locations

So I'm using the UV layout tool to pack shapes and polys together in regular worlds space (not in UV space). What I'd like to be able to do, is have a couple shapes that are manually placed where I'd like them to be, and then have the other objects packed around them. How could this be achieved?
