I just installed the latest version of Houdini on an xp family system sp2. Now when I boot the system I get a message that new hardware has been found. I haven't installed anything new but Houdini apprentice. I'm new to both forums and Houdini so any help will be appreciated.

Did you plug in a USB device or plug an existing USB device into another port? Windows is very smart that way.

Houdini is strictly software so the message should not be related to Houdini.

the install notice refers to Houdini's license client but I've looked through all of the Houdini folders and can find nothing that seems to work.

I'm sorry but you've lost me.

Are you trying to install the Apprentice license? If yes, when you start Houdini, in the pop-up box, please click on Install Houdini Apprentice License link and Houdini should download & install the license for you automatically.
