Rendering heightfield using Redshift

I'm trying to render my heightfield using Redshift which Redshift can't read. So I looked it up on Google and saw a tutorial from Entagma from 2 years ago, it looks like quite a hassle. I also found this [youtu.be] video about converting packprims to RS proxies. But that video was from the end of 2018. I haven't found anything else on Google.

So I'm just wondering if there's an easy way? Maybe turn on something to render heightfield with Redshift, like it's the case with instancing?

Redshift just wants a mesh. Make sure you drop down a height field convert, at the end of your HF network to provide that.

Which version of RS are you using? The newer versions can work with packed geometry so I don't think you need to convert packed primitives to proxies anymore. You could use Instances instead, and there are a few tutorials that deal with that including this one:

Still needs to be a mesh though, I don't think any renderers, apart from mantra, support rendering heightfield volumes as-is.

The Entagma tutorial was before RS added Polygon Soup support, so you were forced to go thru COPs.

But, just like jsmack said, drop down a HF convert SOP and change the HF to a Polygon Soup, making sure you tick ‘Bake Point Colors’.
