Hey. Has anyone encountered the problem of using the mouse wheel? When approaching or moving away, the camera begins to randomly move somewhere.

I've had this problem with all versions of Houdini 17.

Hey. Has anyone encountered the problem of using the mouse wheel? When approaching or moving away, the camera begins to randomly move somewhere.

It's not random, dollying is done in the projected direction by default. (I'm not partial to this default either.)

To change the default, open preferences -> 3D Viewports

then change the View State Operation Defaults default dolly direction to ‘dolly along view direction’. While you're at it for a more traditional viewing and tumbling behavior change default tumble pivot to ‘keep pivot on tumble’ and default zoom center to ‘zoom about view center’.

To temporarily change the behavior click the icons on the top bar area of the view port.
