disable opencl and preconditioner faster than enable each of them?
im using houdini 17.5
my cpu e5-2695 v4*2
my gpu quadro p5000

this is my test resuit(fluid)
3.12 opencl
2.32 preconditioner
2.29 disable all

this my project

didn't check your setup but it shouldn't be a surprise - preconditioner is for quad-core setups IIRC, openclgpu runs across the slow PCI bus. 1 puny gpu card vs 72threads of cpu goodness…

Try openCL CPU, in misc prefs. in theory that should be faster .

thanks, I was wrong, I thought that opencl means something like cuda can speed up by gpu and cpu ,does houdini has gpu acceleration or somthing like that?

AH I see your test now, at the object level where it meshes, so…

CPU only
100 frames 1m 45s

Linux should give you a boost. OpenCL doesnt affect 100 frames that much. It only works on the viscosity and pressure in DOP land IIRC - good news, though, H18 optimises flippy
