I did a few houdini 17 white water sim recently.
Somehow it crashed every time due to insufficient ram.
It only contains about 4 million particles in the last frame before the crash, so it should not be too heavy.
The openCL option in the white water solver is turned off.
And my base flip sim is 14 million particles with no problem.
I wonder if anyone has the same issue.
I use a laptop with i7 8750H, 32G ram, GTX1060 6G.
OS is win10.

got the same problem.
Can't get more than 6-10m particles on my workstation with 128GB.
It works good only when density control is off.
I tried many things. Even turned off Antivirus protection.
Flip sim is fine. I got 50M particles without any issue.

I have Windows 10.
2 x Xeon CPUs
128GB RAM
1 x 1070
3 1070Ti
256 SSD for main system

Hello i just find a posible solution for this bug just enter inside the solver there is a wrangle for density control in the bottom is a drop menu when you can select between 32 bits 64 bits and auto
i put 32 bits and is working much better even increased the resolution and consumes less ram
