Convert selection to new polygon?

Hi folks,

Please take a look at the picture below.

In it, i have selected some primitives at the corner of a cube.

Is it possible to somehow convert this selection to a new, self-contained polygon?

So i mean, a new polygon with the same shape as the selection, while the cube remains, but has a bite taken out of it the same shape as the selection.

Seems to me a very basic function but as yet i've not been able to work out how!

if I understand correctly what you're after, then no. at least not as simple as it should be. since H14 when I requested a convert ‘component’ selection to ‘component’ (component = point/edge/poly) it has not been implemented. a selection convertion of the same type (e.g. poly to poly) is apparently either too complicated or a too low-hanging fruit to be picked up by SideFx, as is the case with so many other basic things it seems.
