Hello!

I'm trying to reproduce the landing of the porco rosso seaplane at sea.

But here are some things that I don't understand, as you can see in the video

https://vimeo.com/387259233 [vimeo.com]

I have a geo node with my 3d object in several parts, it's a rather heavy stl file so I reduced the number of polygons and I put aside the propeller, I would like the propeller to turn fast enough but I don't know the right expression.

Then with a transform node I animated my plane, the problem is that it doesn't work with the sim. But if I animate the geo node yes but I can't center my pivot with the $CEX expression.

Can you explain me what I did wrong?.

Then I wanted to know if it wouldn't be better to do the simulation with a vdb of my plane ?

and for the final I would like to make the engine smoke and come out of the flames and also integrate it in a bigger ocean. how to do that ?

Thanks

I think it's a good way to learn in addition to some tutorials.

I haven't seen everything, but can't you just use something like $F * value for the rotation ?

Hey, there are a lot of ressources available to learn expressions. You just need to do some research.
Here are some links to get you started:

https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/ref/expression_cookbook.html [www.sidefx.com]
http://www.tokeru.com/cgwiki/?title=Houdini [www.tokeru.com]
http://page.math.tu-berlin.de/~chern/teaching/houdini/ [page.math.tu-berlin.de]

It might be a lot of information and can be a bit overwhelming at the beginning but it's worth to invest some time into it.
