Is viewport subdivision disabled in Indie?

I'm stumped on this one.

I ctrl-click Box to make a box at the origin.
I make sure the camera icon is selected on the left & the box is still active.
I press either shift + on my keyboard or the numeric keypad + key to turn on “View selected objects as subdivision”.
I get a message in the main window saying “Turn On Viewport Subdivision”.
Nothing happens.

I went in and renamed my houdini16.5 folder in Documents to houdini16.5-BAK and allowed it to be recreated in case I'd messed up the preferences somehow, but I get the same results.

Does Indie not have the ability to view objects as subdivisions?
I can add in a subdivide node to actually subdivide the geometry, but that's it.

I'm sure this is a newbie question, but I'm pulling my hair out & just can't figure it out.

That's what I expect to see, but don't.

Maybe I'll reinstall Houdini and see if that fixes it.

Thanks!

Does the object display mode “Display As” indicate “Subdivision Surfaces / Curves” (not Full Geometry). It's in the object's Render tab.

I have the same problem in 16.5.496.
Render subd in Mantra OK but not work in the viewport unless I use sbdivide node.

I just checked again after reinstalling & the problem continues. I also checked the render tab (I'm just ctrl-clicking a Box to create the object) and it's set to Display As Subdivision Surface/Curves. Hitting Shift + on the keyboard or the + key on the numeric keypad does nothing except say “Turn On Viewport Subdivision” in the window.

I'm also using 16.5.496 Indie.

Thanks,

It works here with Indie 16.5.378, however only for shaded objects, wireframe is left intact, above subdivided mesh. Somehow like old Maya smooth proxy, or Softimage poly mesh>subdivision. This is something new in 16.5 btw …. All that running ‘display as’ from render properties. I have to admit that, after four years I still don't know that much about 3d viewport shortcuts in H

I stand corrected. I thought I was launching 16.5.496 but instead I was launching 16.5.473. You are right, this is a bug in the latest version. We should probably file a bug report.

I can reproduce this behavior on 16.5.496, but on 16.5.503 it works as expected.

Still doesn't work for me in Houdini 20. Render tab option works, but Shift+= doesn't.

Edit: Houdini 20 changed how hotkeys work. Following this document [www.sidefx.com] fixed it for me.
