I believe there's a way to add custom menu items to the right click menu in the scene graph tree, but I don't remember where I've seen that info. Would you be able to point me in the right direction ?

I think you're looking for UsdStagePrimMenu.xml; just make one on HOUDINI_PATH to add to the menu!
